Moving south in Bahia (a state the size of France) we stumbled upon the ‘Pancada Grande’. The area is owned by Michelin (the tyre brand) who has a huge rubber plantation in the south of Bahia. This waterfall and the primary forest are protected by Michelin.

We stumbled upon this 61 m high waterfall in the Mata Atlantica

It is located in the land of Michelin, next to the rubber plantations

All land owners (farmers) are obliged to leave 25% of their land to the original forest (Atlantic Rainforest)

Michelin did better, they left 50% and are reforesting more land.

Great place for a swim! Surrounded by Atlantic rainforest.

I hope we can enjoy the Atlantic Rainforest like this in the future!
