We traveled through Brazil and visited the Michelin rubber plantations in the south of Bahia. Here we found a school example of sustainable ‘People-Profit’.
The idea is simple but genious:
Michelin built a school and educates the children of the farmers
(about agriculture but also general subjects, like hygiene).
The children will spread the knowledge in their communities.
Result: better productivity, higher income for the farmers, better quality of life.
But also more rubber for Michelin to buy and ‘bonding’ between the farmers and Michelin.
A sustainable ‘win – win’.
Like I said: A school example of ‘People-Profit’.
- The children of the farmers are educated to educate their parents
